Representatives of the Chilean Micro and Nanotechnology Association (AMNCH) visited the laboratories of the Center for Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (CEDENNA) with the goal of forging a strategic alliance between science and industry to strengthen the quality, safety, and innovation of national nanotechnology.
During the tour, attendees learned about the center's technical and human capabilities, especially highlighting the potential of its laboratories for characterizing materials and developing applied technological projects. This stage of the process has represented a constant challenge for companies in the sector, which often have to resort to international services, which involve high costs and long lead times.
"Opportunities like those offered by CEDENNA would allow companies to access materials characterization with less investment and in less time," said Omar Daud, deputy project manager at CEDENNA.
The AMNCH brings together companies that use micro and nanotechnology in the production and marketing of antibacterial textile products, chemical additives, industrial raw materials, and the recycling of mining waste, such as scrap metal and copper concentrate. All of these activities require compliance with rigorous quality standards, safeguarding human health and the environment. Therefore, having laboratories of excellence like those at CEDENNA is key to their development.
Furthermore, AMNCH is part of the R&D Alliance, a regional community that promotes innovation and technological development in Latin America and the Caribbean.
"We are here at CEDENNA, one of the most important and long-standing research centers in Chile, creating an alliance to strengthen not only the micro and nanotechnology industry, but also to collaborate with public institutions, promoting this new industry that belongs to the ecosystem of developing R&D technologies. We invite everyone to learn about our work," said Manuela Nanetti, Executive Director of AMNCH.
New meetings between CEDENNA and AMNCH will soon be held to advance the creation of applied technological projects, as well as the development of new patents that meet the needs of the national industry.
