“After six years of investigation, a group of researchers from the Center for Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (CEDENNA), through their startup Sistrat, created a sensor that detects the detachment, in real time, of wear elements from mining shovel buckets. . A long-awaited solution to one of the main production problems in the mining sector, because it damages the primary crusher and delays operations, severely affecting productivity. This innovation, unique due to its characteristics, has aroused great interest in mining because it represents no less than a potential saving of 200 to 400 million dollars per year for Chilean production. The impact at the international level amounts to between 2,000 and 3,000 million dollars a year”, points out Dr. Omar Daud, Deputy Project Manager at Cedenna and Project Manager at Sistrat, in an article published in the July edition of the Chilean Mining Magazine.
